Marathon for Mental Health is the flexible marathon challenge that fits around your life.

Run, walk or hike 26.2 miles throughout October 2026 and split it however you want.

A 5k at lunch, a weekend hike, an evening walk. No pressure, no time limit, just movement.

Join a global community of people raising money for mental health charities while doing something good for themselves. This is the marathon challenge for everyone.
Wherever you are, whatever your schedule.

Who’s this marathon for?

Everyone.

Marathon for Mental Health started in the seafaring community, where long hours and isolation push mental health to the limit. But this flexible global marathon challenge has grown into something bigger welcoming hospitality workers, remote workers, shift workers, office workers and anyone who needs a community and a reason to move.

Our October 2026 marathon challenge gives you 31 days to complete 26.2 miles on your own terms. Because the hardest part is getting started and we make that as easy as possible.

❝ M4 honestly was a breath of fresh air to push us through the last stretch of our season.

It provided us with a fun and healthy outlet whilst raising awareness with regards to mental health and the wellbeing thereof within our community

Thank you, to Mel, and her amazing team, for connecting us in this journey and for motivating everyone to contribute towards the resources and tools to aid in bettering people’s mental wellbeing. ❞

Our Story

Hey, I’m Mel

❝ Having worked in mental health advocacy since leaving life as a yacht chef in 2020, I kept seeing the same problem: brilliant welfare resources existed, but the people who needed them most couldn't find them.

Training for the London Marathon showed me first-hand what movement can do for mental health. But I also knew that when I was working at sea & in the service sector, entering a traditional marathon would have been impossible. Getting out for the odd run, walk or a hike? That I could do. But only when I had time off, which was hard to come by.

That's where the idea came from. A flexible marathon challenge that everyone can actually take part in, wherever they are, whatever their schedule, with access to the mental health resources to support them along the way. Add in fundraising for charity, and the picture was complete.

This is the flexible marathon challenge 2026. And it's for everyone.❞
